How to Enable/Disable Power Throttling in Windows 10 To save Power & Increase battery Life
Turning on or off the Power Throttling feature in Windows is not a big task. You can easily manage your applications from Task Manager. So, just follow these easy steps to manage the Power Throttling feature in Windows 10.
Step 1: Open the task manager on your laptop by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete buttons and after it opens, click on the Details tab at the top of the window. See the image below for reference.
Step 2: Now, you will see the different applications and their processes. From there, you have to choose the name of theyou want to optimize with Power Throttling and Right Click on it and click on the Select Columns option from there.
Step 3: After finishing the above step, you will see a new window of Select Columns will open. From there, you have to tick the checkbox that says “Power Throttling“. For your reference, see the image below.
Step 4: Now, after enabling the Power Throttling option, you will see a new row of Power Throttling with its status i.e. Enabled or Disabled for the particular application. Now it is done.
To see whether this feature is properly working or not, minimize and maximize an app and then take a look at the Power Throttling column. It will keep on changing according to the app usage.
How to Manage Power Throttling for Individual Applications
The above-mentioned procedure will enable the power throttling feature for all the applications. But, if you want to manage the Power Throttling Feature for an individual app, it is also possible. So, follow these easy steps to manage this feature for Individual Applications.
Step 1: First go to the Settings > System > Battery.
Step 2: After clicking on Battery, you will see all the details about Battery on the right side of the screen. From there, Click on Battery usage by app. Check out the image below for reference.
Step 3: After clicking the above option, a list of apps will appear on the screen. Click the one for which you want to enable or disable power throttling.
Step 4: After this, you will see some options with a tick box. Now, Untick the checkbox that says “Let Windows decide when this app can run in the background” to display further setting.
Step 5: Also, Untick the checkbox “Reduce the work the app can do when it’s in the background” to turn off power throttling for that app.
You can tick the boxes anytime to enable power throttling for that particular app. Now you are done with managing the Power Throttling feature for an individual application. Using this feature on regular basis will ultimately leads to the increased battery life of your Windows 10 laptop.
